It seemed simple enough. Be fluid and be uncompromisingly myself at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Did that mean to stay flexible and not flexible at the same time?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This paradox made me think of the daily gymnastics we face as parents, spouses, business owners, practitioners, and employees.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">How exactly could I stay aligned with myself and fluid in the world at the same time?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather; font-weight: 400; font-size: 16px !important; --tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important; color: #000000 !important;\">In many areas of my life, I am fully aligned and act as myself. When it comes to my personal relationships, what you see is what you get. I am unequivocally and unapologetically myself, which has sometimes led to clashes, but is part of my authentic being. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather; font-weight: 400; font-size: 16px !important; --tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important; color: #000000 !important;\">\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather;\"><span style=\"color: #000000 !important;\"><span style=\"--tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">However, in other parts of my life, this compromise might be a lot more apparent. Sometimes, I don\u2019t say anything to keep the peace. Or I agree where I want to disagree just to be polite. And as I imagine is the case with many others, I often take on tasks I don\u2019t like because I feel obligated to \u201cdo my part.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather;\"><span style=\"color: #000000 !important;\"><span style=\"--tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">\u200b<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather; font-weight: 400; font-size: 16px !important; --tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important; color: #000000 !important;\">Sometimes these choices seem insignificant enough.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>But over time, they create a separation between who I am and how I show up. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I start noticing that my responses sound right but don\u2019t resonate as an enthusiastic \u201cyes\u201d in my body. My focus turns outward, and I begin managing situations reactively instead of centering internally and coming into the present moment.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">That is usually when I realize that alignment and adaptability are not opposites. They are both needed if I want to stay true to myself and in connection with the world around me.<\/p>\n<p>Grounded agility might sound like a contradiction, yet it might be what allows us to move with change without losing our sense of self.<\/p>\n<p>As we manage the constant changes being human encompasses, the nervous system often looks for safety. The outside world rapidly changes and can start feeling \u201cunsafe.\u201d Sometimes the nervous system will desperately hold on to what is familiar. Sometimes it lets go completely and floats. Both are ways to create internal safety.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grounded agility lives in between. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">It is the ability to stay connected to our own internal foundation while responding to what is happening externally. It is a way of opening to change while staying oriented inside myself.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Have you noticed this in your own life? <\/strong>Those moments when you are caught between what feels familiar and what is asking to evolve. When you try to adapt, but a part of you holds back to stay safe. Or in relationships, when being honest risks causing friction and disagreement.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">These moments reveal how much energy it takes to stay both flexible and grounded. They invite awareness of how we conceptualize and embody change and what helps us stay connected while we do.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather; font-weight: 400; font-size: 16px !important; --tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important; color: #000000 !important;\">When I pay attention, I see how often my mind wants to move faster than my body. I rush to make decisions, to fix what feels uncertain, and to restore order.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather;\"><span style=\"color: #000000 !important;\"><span style=\"--tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px !important;\">Grounded agility asks for the opposite. It invites a pause before acting, a moment to sense where I am in all of it.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather; font-weight: 400; font-size: 16px !important; --tcb-applied-color: #000000 !important; color: #000000 !important;\">That pause is where choice returns. So much of what we do each day is guided by habit, shaped by old experiences that once helped us feel safe. In that brief space of awareness, the body can register that what is happening now is different from what came before.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>That is the turning point. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When I slow down enough to sense what is actually present, I can embrace life as it is, not as I remember it. From there, adaptation becomes a conscious movement rather than a reflex.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The more I notice this, the more I see how grounded agility changes the quality of daily life. It reveals how awareness itself is the unifying power. The more present I am, the less I need to manage what comes next.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>So, can we stay grounded and agile at the same time?<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">I think we can, but not as opposites we need to balance. They belong to the same movement. The more present we become, the more naturally flexibility and stability start to work together.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">When awareness begins to grow in this way, something fundamental shifts in how we experience life. The need to choose between control and flow starts to dissolve because both are seen as part of consciousness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Over time, this becomes a lived understanding. Between explaining the practice and these distractions, I started feeling more and more nervous and finally stopped admitting people.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_contentbox_shortcode thrv-content-box\" style=\"\" data-css=\"tve-u-69428d58126b69\" data-ct-name=\"Number Box 1\" data-ct=\"stylebox-8968\" data-element-name=\"Styled Box\" data-form-settings=\"__TCB_FORM__{&quot;form_identifier&quot;:&quot;clone-of-intuition-has-a-rebellious-agenda-form-69428d&quot;}__TCB_FORM__\">\n<div class=\"tve-content-box-background\" data-css=\"tve-u-69428d58126b97\" style=\"--tve-border-width: 2px; border-left: 2px solid rgb(153, 0, 204) !important;\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"tve-cb tve_empty_dropzone\" data-css=\"tve-u-69428d58126bb3\"><div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_text_element tve_empty_dropzone\" data-css=\"tve-u-69428d58126bd0\"><p data-css=\"tve-u-69428d58126d18\">I returned fully to the practice and began the demonstration.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_text_element\" data-css=\"tve-u-69428d58126c13\"><p data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c0070a1\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"\">Suddenly, a participant streamed explicit material on video. It happened so unexpectedly that for a few seconds my mind couldn\u2019t quite register what I was seeing on my screen.<\/p><p data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c0070a1\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/p><span style=\"font-family: Merriweather; font-weight: 400; font-size: 16px !important; --tcb-applied-color: rgb(0, 0, 0) !important; color: rgb(0, 0, 0) !important;\" data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c00c293\" class=\"\">My body reacted first. I couldn\u2019t breathe and my hands started shaking. I felt a deep rush of heat move through me. I immediately ended their stream, removed and reported the person, and continued with the group. On the outside I looked composed, but inside my body was still flooded with adrenaline. Nervous system regulation in real time.<\/strong><\/p><\/div><div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_text_element\" data-css=\"tve-u-69428d58126ea5\"><p data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c0273dd\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"\">I expressed this to my participants and supportive and loving comments began to pop up in the chat.&nbsp;<\/p><p data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c0273dd\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"\"><br><\/p><p data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c0273df\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"\">Everyone felt I had handled this beautifully and these kinds of unexpected moments were exactly why we needed to come together in practice.<\/p><p data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c0273df\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"\"><br><\/p><p data-css=\"tve-u-19b2c0273e0\" dir=\"ltr\" style=\"\">For the rest of that evening, I kept telling myself that I had handled it well. I had done what needed to be done.
