What is the Fight Flight Flow?

The Fight/Flight Flow is designed to help you navigate and release the intense energy that builds up when you find yourself in a fight-or-flight state. Because it’s so common in Functional Freeze to feel both revved up and shut down simultaneously, this flow addresses the sense of being trapped in the body's heightened response. The fight/flight state often shows up as anxiety, irritability, a racing mind, or physical restlessness, making it hard to find relief. This flow focuses on safely discharging that built-up energy, guiding you from a place of agitation or overwhelm into a state of calm and balance.

This flow can be particularly helpful in situations where you feel a surge of fight-or-flight energy. Imagine you're rushing to a morning meeting when a minor fender bender throws off your entire day. Perhaps you’re at your desk, staring at an inbox filled with overdue bills, or you’ve just finished a tense phone call with a client or your boss. Maybe you’ve had an argument with your partner before heading into work, and now you’re sitting in your car, heart pounding and mind racing. These moments, when the stress response is triggered and you feel that familiar rush of adrenaline, are precisely when the Fight/Flight Flow can help.

This flow begins with dynamic exercises that actively release tension and reset the nervous system. By starting with physical movement, you break free of the pent-up energy that can be consuming and disorienting. As you progress, you’ll notice the exercises gradually shift to more grounding and calming practices.
