Hi, I'm Petra. I believe thriving starts in the nervous system. The state of our nervous system shapes how we experience our health, connect in our relationships, perform in our work, build our prosperity, and understand who we are. For years I came back to one idea over and over. When we learn to regulate our state, we can reach more of what we are already capable of.


That idea is what led me to create The Jōrni, a space to work with Neurohumanetics and understand our nervous system and the many ways we can connect with it. Because thriving is something we get to cultivate and sustain across every part of our life, again and again, as life keeps changing.

What is Neurohumanetics?

Neurohumanetics is the art and science of thriving through the nervous system. It is based on the understanding that the nervous system is the organizing layer of human experience, the state through which we perceive, respond to, and shape every area of our lives, our health, relationships, prosperity, career, and personal evolution. Much like the apple slices that come together to make a whole pie, each of these areas is a part of the bigger picture of how we thrive.

When chronic stress builds up, one of the most common stress responses we can experience is Functional Freeze, a mixed nervous system response. On the outside we keep functioning because we have to, while inside we feel it physically, mentally, emotionally, and energetically, affecting our health, our relationships, our finances, and our work. It's like having one foot on the gas and the other on the brake at the same time.


Functional Freeze is one of the main pieces of Neurohumanetics we focus on here at the Jōrni, a felt and lived way to work with the nervous system at the center of how we thrive. Our programs and events offer a deeper exploration of Neurohumanetics, where we put its principles into practice to transform the way we live.
