What is Functional Freeze?
Functional Freeze is a mixed nervous system response to chronic stress, often resulting in exhaustion, brain fog, and emotional overwhelm. On the outside, we function because we have to, but on the inside, anxiety, stress, and mental fatigue make it difficult to engage in life, focus, or connect with others.
It’s like having one foot on the gas and the other on the brake at the same time. You wake up feeling anxious, dread the day ahead, struggle to make decisions, and feel trapped in a cycle of numbness, guilt, and disconnection—wondering if this is all life has to offer.
