What is the Fluctuating Flow?

The Freeze Flow is designed to support you when you enter that often unanticipated “stop, assess, wait” state—a natural response to sudden stressors that leaves you feeling tense and on high alert. This reaction often occurs when something unexpected throws you off balance, like receiving an email with bad news, an unexpected phone call, or a tense conversation that catches you off guard. In these moments, you might feel your body tighten, your mind race, and your energy freeze in place as you try to assess the situation and figure out what to do next.

For many of us experiencing Functional Freeze, this state can show up in everyday life. You might be driving, and a sudden traffic jam makes you late for an important meeting, leaving you tense and anxious. Or maybe you receive an overdue bill, and the sudden pressure causes your mind to blank as you struggle to figure out how to handle it. Even running late for a family dinner or dealing with an unexpected request from your boss can trigger that familiar freeze—leaving you feeling stuck and unsure of how to proceed. In these moments, your body is in that “on hold” mode, where you're alert but unable to move forward, like a cat startled by a sudden noise, crouched low, scanning its surroundings, unsure of what to do next.

The Freeze Flow helps you gently move out of this “on hold” state by guiding you through exercises that discharge excess energy, reconnect you with your body, and bring your nervous system back into balance. It begins with simple movements like shaking to release the tension that’s built up in your muscles and energy field. From there, you’ll progress to seated practices that focus on grounding your energy, calming your mind, and bringing awareness to the sensations in your body. The flow then transitions into yoga poses and vagal toning exercises to help you settle into a state of ease and safety.

By regularly practicing this flow, you'll build the capacity to recognize when you're in the freeze state and have a set of tools ready to guide you back to balance. The goal isn’t to force yourself out of the freeze but to gently support your body in moving from that hyper-aware, tense pause into a more relaxed and controlled state. Over time, these practices will help you feel more empowered and resilient in the face of life's unexpected challenges.
